Red and Green

Color and Concept

This body of work was created with inspiration from Josef Albers, by adopting the square format and using color as a catalyst to speak about the understanding or misunderstanding of food in our culture. Referencing Rene Magritte from “Leci n’est pas une pipe.” I used the phrase to relate it to the color of our foods and the quality of our foods. Fabrics were dyed to reflect the misconstrued concept of food maintaining their “color” in which we commonly associate to them. This work reflects corporate influence and deceit or misguidance the consumers are given on the value of foods commonly offered.
